The School of Medicine at Xiamen University recently hosted a riveting paper presentation event on December 8th, where the corridors echoed with the intellectual fervor of aspiring medical minds. The event, hosted by the Student Union, stood as a platform where inquisitive minds, fueled by curiosity and driven by a quest for discovery, unveiled their remarkable research and findings.


Elevating this scholarly congregation were the venerable judges—foreign professors from the School of Medicine: the erudite trio of Dr. David, Dr. Maxwell, and Dr. Bipin. Adding depth and local expertise to the discerning evaluation were  Dr. Li Jianing from the First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University and Dr. Lu Mei from the Maternity and Child Health Hospital, Xiamen.

This grand occasion provided a stage for ten brilliant teams, each a luminary in their right, to unfurl the tapestry of their meticulous research .Thus, the event witnessed an impressive array of medical topics, each presentation contributing unique perspectives and insights. These 10 teams ventured into the realm of medical exploration, presenting thought-provoking topics that encapsulated both the breadth and depth of medical research.


Here's a glimpse into the fascinating research topics presented by the participants :


1.Aabha Dogra and Anushka Sharda delved into Endometrial Carcinoma, shedding light on this complex condition.

2.Aditya Garg and Sahana Bevoor explored the intricate world of IDA (Iron Deficiency Anemia), uncovering its challenges and treatment approaches.

3.Erika Lee-yu Lin and Sai Gulhane examined the repercussions of Blindness secondary to Tb Meningitis, highlighting its impact.

4.Devrakshita Mishra provided a comprehensive Introduction to Uterine Natural Killer Cells, a lesser-explored facet of reproductive health.

5.Kashvi Singh and Karan Loungani investigated the Correlation between Diabetes and Obesity, presenting crucial connections and health implications.

6.Omar unfolded the complexities of Placenta Accreta Spectrum, enlightening the audience on this obstetric challenge.

7.Hemant Khurana tackled the subject of Epilepsy and Seizure, offering insights into management and research developments.

8.Ruchit Bhagasra and Shubham Kumar delved into Retinoblastoma, shedding light on this eye cancer affecting children.

9.Hrithik and Rishi presented a detailed Breast Cancer Case Report, showcasing a comprehensive analysis.

10.Niyaz Shaik and Komali Bailapudi explored the intricate aspects of Heterotopic Pregnancy, a rare yet significant occurrence.

The highlight of the event was the recognition of outstanding presentations that truly illuminated the depths of medical research. Applause resounded as the winners emerged amidst this symphony of intellectual exploration.The winners who stood out amidst this array of exceptional research are:

·1st Prize: Devrakshita Mishra from the 2019 batch, for a stellar presentation

·2nd Prize: Omar Nayeem, also from the 2019 batch, captivating audiences with a insightful presentation

·3rd Place: Rishi and Hritik, representing the 2018 batch, for their commendable contribution


This paper presentation event transcended mere academia; it was a spectacle resonating with the heartbeat of aspiring medical luminaries. This event not only celebrated academic excellence but also showcased the passion and dedication of the School of Medicine's future medical professionals. The pursuit of knowledge and the drive to make impactful contributions to the medical field were palpable throughout the event.


Congratulations to all participants for their dedication and commendable efforts, and a sincere thank you to the judges, organizers, and attendees whose support and enthusiasm made this event a resounding success. This gathering was a testament to the relentless pursuit of knowledge and the spirit of innovation within the medical community at Xiamen University.
