Embracing Early Farewells: A Tribute to Graduating students

By Mr. Zubair

As the academic year draws to a close, the halls of educational institutions echo with the bittersweet melodies of farewells. For many graduating students, this time marks the end of an era, a culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and growth. However, amidst the anticipation of commencement ceremonies and celebratory gatherings, there lies a unique group of individuals who find themselves bidding adieu earlier than expected.

In repsonse to unforseen cirucmstances, one such solution comes in the form of pre-graduation ceremonies, organised to accomodate students who must depart earlier than schedulded due to various reasons, such as travel restrictions, personal commitments, or family obligations. Graduation ceremonies serve immense significance in acknowledging the achievements and contributions of departing students and also gives them the opportunity to create a long lasting impression of the school and bid farewell to the school in a proper way.

27th May school of medicine organized pre-graduation ceremony that took place at CHENGYI building room 102. Leaders from school, such as Vice-Dean Prof Li Wei, Vice President Wang KunZhong, MBBS manager ChenJingMeng, foreign teacher and administrative staff participated in the event.

The event started by a reflection from students representative ARULARASI RAJAGOPALAN AMARAVATHI, who expressed her whole experience of studying at Xiamen University as both humbling and empowering. She still remembered the first day that she arrived at the university campus and talked about her difficulties throughout the education period and how she found comfort in the shade of the university campus and the long-lasting friendship that she has made. She expressed her utter respect towards the school and the leaders. She talked about all the help that her teachers provided during her beginning years at Xiamen. Furthermore, she explained how the memory of Xiamen will stay with her forever.

School's foreign teachers also wished students well for their future and emphasized the learning cure that will continue in near future and the hard work that will need to put I throughout their medical lives.

MBBS manager ChenJingMeng in her speech stressed "The pre-graduation ceremony symbolizes the culmination of a transformative journey for our students. As they embark on new endeavors, we remain steadfast in our commitment to their continued success and well-being." She remembered the time that she spent with the students during their clinical training classes, shared the positive and hardworking impression she had of all of them. She wished all the students a bright future.

Vice-President WangKunZhong in his speech congratulated their students on their perseverance and wisdom in their ever-challenging   medical journey. “As these graduates embark on their respective paths, they carry with them the values of integrity, perseverance, and compassion instilled by their alma mater." He wished them great success in the medical field and made the school of medicine proud. Vice president also reminded students that Xiamen University is their forever home, and they should always return.

At the end, Vice-Dean Prof Li Wei talked about all the struggles that students had to go through pandemic period and credited students for their determination. "Our pre-graduation ceremonies embody the spirit of inclusivity and compassion. It is our solemn duty to celebrate the accomplishments of our students, regardless of the circumstances" He wished all of them great success for the future. He announced the 29 graduating students, invited the school of   medicine teacher (Dr. Gyanendra) to read the doctor's oath.

As graduates walked across the stage to receive their diplomas, they are not merely bidding farewell to an institution; they are embracing the endless possibilities that await them beyond its confines. These ceremonies serve as symbolic rites of passage, marking the transition from academia to the real world with a sense of pride and optimism. At the end all students and faculty shared a group photo and bid farewell to each other.

Under the guidance of esteemed faculty members and administrative personnel, this ceremony encapsulates the essence of graduation norms, albeit in a more intimate setting. From the conferral of academic regalia to the recitation of commencement speeches, every aspect is meticulously orchestrated to ensure that graduating students receive the recognition they rightfully deserve.

Though their tenure on campus may be fleeting, the impact they leave behind resonates far beyond the confines of academia, inspiring future generations to embrace life's uncertainties with courage and grace.
