Hello everyone. This is Omar from 2019 batch school of medicine. First of all, I would like to say that it has been an absolute pleasure for me to make a video on the 100th anniversary of the current and my most beloved Xiamen University. I would also like to thank the officials, staffs and all the teachers of this university to give me this wonderful opportunity to wish and also express my emotions for this college on this massive occasion.

It certainly has not been an easy journey to get to where I am today. Especially with the constrained family that I was bought up in, it was next to impossible for someone like me to study abroad away from my family and to secure a better future.

I’m always a person who loves to go out of the box, to see and explore this enormous world. This has led me to fight and to break away from all the strings that were pulling me back.

Today I am honored and at the same time extremely grateful to be a part of one of the best universities around the world. I was astounded by this beautiful and gigantic campus when I first landed in Xiamen university.

It took me a whole week to explore each and every corner of this amazing college and in the process, I find myself in awe by the vastness of the things that are left out there unexplored.

One thing that definitely felt unusual to me which is, I didn’t feel the necessity to adapt to this place which I always do when I arrive at a new place. This location had something very special that never made me feel like that I was far away from home. The environment and the condition there provided with so much of comfort that I almost forgot about the fact of me being a student there for just a couple of years. From there on, I had no hesitation at all to call this place “my second home”.

And lastly, I would like to end the note by wishing my university, “A very happy 100th anniversary”. I really hope from the bottom of my heart for Xiamen University to have a glorious and prosperous future ahead.
